Imaging techniques like radiography, CT scanning, and MRI are among the most powerful tools in forensic science. Forensic medicolegal imaging is the analysis of these radiographic images, whether this is for the identification of human remains, the determination of the cause of death, or clinical age estimation.

Forensic imaging ID currently contributes to approximately 20% of the annual identification cases in most forensic medicine centers around the world. This work is mostly performed by medical examiners, forensic pathologists, and anthropologists.

In the first part of this online event, Tzipi Kahana explores the various techniques employed for forensic imaging in the present, using practical examples from decades of work in the field.

In the second part, Oscar Ibáñez talks about the future of comparative radiography and the results of six years of R&D in collaboration with the University of Granada that has led to many advances in the field thanks to the use of Artificial Intelligence.
